Welcome to All Stretton
All Stretton is the name of a village and its wider township within the ancient parish and manor of Church Stretton, in south Shropshire. The village nestles in a narrow valley, stretched out along the old Shrewsbury road, about a mile north of the market town of Church Stretton. The township continues to the north, draped over the northern end of the Long Mynd.
In 2004 some of the inhabitants of the township came together to look more closely at the history of our township and the people who have lived here over the centuries. Our project received generous funding from Nationwide and the Lottery Heritage Initiative through the Countryside Agency.
We published the results of our research in an illustrated book entitled, 'All Stretton, history and houses' in 2006.
The website is very much a work in progress and we would be grateful for any comments. We would especially welcome contributions from those of you who have some personal connection with the village, as former inhabitants, as descendants of former inhabitants, or simply as visitors.
