Welcome to Shropshire Archives and the Telford Culture Zone project.
The Telford Culture Zone is one of three trailblazing Hubs in England, set up by the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS), funded by Arts Council England and managed in partnership with the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).
Telford Culture Zone is a partnership between The Birmingham Rep, DanceXchange, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), Shropshire Archives, Telford and Wrekin Libraries, Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust (IGMT), and sixteen Telford schools. The Zone’s aim is to instil a lifelong love of arts and culture into our children and young people, in the hope that they will demand access to these types of activities as they grow older. The activities will develop children and young people's performing arts, potential in music, dance and drama and to explore their history and heritage.
Children and young people involved with our projects will be creating some pages for this website, with photographs of their work, film and reports which they have contributed. Teachers and members of the local communities will also have an opportunity to develop pages, contributing their own histories and archives, so enabling the children to gain an understanding of their own environment and culture.
