John Affleck Bridges
John Affleck Bridges was born in 1833. He led a varied life, living in the USA for a period. However, for a few years from 1863 he took a farm near Harpsford in Chetton. He subsequently wrote about his experiences in chapters in two books, Victorian Recollections (Bell and Sons, London, 1919) and A Sportsman of Limited Income (Melrose, London, 1910).
